Collins Aerospace

The threat model at Collins Aerospace isn't hypothetical: the company builds and operates the systems that carry nearly 70 percent of U.S. and allied military airborne communication, plus a secure global air and ground network moving more than 75 million messages a day. Founded in 2018 and now one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products, it designs and manufactures equipment that sits on nearly every aircraft platform - avionics, landing gear, nacelles, cabin seating, fuel systems, and connectivity. When the transport layer is airborne and the adversary is state-level, cybersecurity is a systems-engineering problem before it's a software one.

The security surface spans the technical domains the company operates in: avionics, connected battlespace, autonomous systems, aircraft electrification, connectivity and communications systems, and the broader avionics and aircraft-systems portfolio. That means work that reaches across commercial aviation, business aviation, airports, aircraft and engine OEMs, government and defense ministries, and allied military operators - each with its own accreditation regimes, data-handling constraints, and certification path.

Collins Aerospace describes itself as combining decades of expertise under one unified brand, operating at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, with an emphasis on communication, efficiency, and safety in its networks. For security practitioners, the practical draw is scope: securing comms infrastructure that aircraft, ground stations, and defense customers depend on, at a scale where a flaw in an avionics or connectivity component has consequences well beyond the usual enterprise perimeter.
