Job Overview

Software Finder is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity IT Intern to support our IT and Information Security team in protecting the organization’s systems, networks, endpoints, and data.

This internship offers students and recent graduates practical exposure to cybersecurity operations, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, security monitoring, compliance, and employee security awareness. The selected intern will work closely with experienced professionals while contributing to the organization’s IT security and compliance objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the deployment, configuration, and management of endpoint security solutions.

  • Support vulnerability scanning, assessment, remediation tracking, and follow-up activities.

  • Monitor security alerts and escalate potential incidents according to established procedures.

  • Assist with user account administration, permissions management, and periodic access reviews.

  • Support security administration across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure environments.

  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventories, security records, and technical documentation.

  • Assist in planning and executing security awareness and phishing simulation campaigns.

  • Participate in IT security audits and compliance activities, including SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

  • Help draft and update IT policies, procedures, security guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

  • Support the IT Helpdesk in resolving security-related incidents and service requests.

  • Review security logs and assist in preparing operational and compliance reports.

  • Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with IT and Information Security team members on ongoing security initiatives.

  • Perform other cybersecurity and IT-related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network security, operating systems, and endpoint protection.

  • Familiarity with identity and access management concepts, including user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, and cloud computing environments.

  • Understanding of common cyber threats, vulnerabilities, phishing attacks, malware, and security incidents.

  • Strong analytical, research, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly and maintain confidentiality.

  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively in a professional environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, or other endpoint security tools.

  • Basic knowledge of vulnerability scanning and security monitoring tools.

  • Understanding of SIEM, log analysis, incident response, and alert-triage concepts.

  • Awareness of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, or CIS Controls.

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, networking fundamentals, firewalls, VPNs, and access management.

  • Exposure to phishing simulations, security awareness initiatives, or IT audit activities.

  • Relevant academic projects, certifications, labs, or practical training in cybersecurity.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, Microsoft Security Fundamentals, or equivalent would be an advantage.
