Description
The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enhancing security infrastructure across the enterprise. This position supports one or more information security disciplines such as network security, Palo Alto firewall administration, F5 VPN administration, multi-factor authentication, digital certificate management, intrusion prevention, and cloud security. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer serves as a subject matter expert, conducts incident response, evaluates security risks, and collaborates with IT leadership to secure enterprise systems, applications, and cloud environments. The main focus of this position will be Palo Alto Firewall builds/installs from start to finish, upgrades to Palo Alto's, including Panorama management. We are seeking someone who knows the network security behind it as well as secure policy vs. insecure policy. You will play a key role in managing on prem as well as AWS and Azure cloud Palo Alto firewalls and understanding security groups on AWS and network security groups (NSG's) in Azure. The ideal candidate will also bring skills performing F5 VPN remote access administration. This is an engineering team and large focus of work is engineering duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Security Operations and Engineering:
- Implement, maintain, and administer security infrastructure including Palo Alto firewalls, F5 remote access VPNs, multi-factor authentication, SSL certificates, IPS systems, and cloud security tools.
- Analyze security logs from Palo Alto firewalls, IPS, and system platforms to detect threats; apply blocks and configurations to isolate and mitigate malicious activity.
- Support enterprise scanning infrastructure to conduct network, system, and application-based vulnerability assessments.

- Incident Response and Compliance:
- Perform incident response, digital forensics, troubleshooting, and remediation to preserve system integrity and minimize disruption.
- Conduct Palo Alto firewall, VPN, and security configuration audits to ensure compliance with enterprise policies and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate network and cloud architectures to identify vulnerabilities and recommend security enhancements.
- Architecture, Planning, and Collaboration:
- Develop security architecture designs to support growth, emerging technologies, and evolving security needs.
- Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity leadership, and project teams to ensure secure system implementations and minimize risk to enterprise services.
- Provide security expertise to management, IT teams, and users; contribute to automation, workflow optimization, and cloud infrastructure security.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience - Six years of relevant IT experience including security analyst or support roles administering firewalls, VPNs, or other security technologies; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Required): Working knowledge of TCP/IP, networking technologies, and modern operating systems Understanding of core security concepts, principles, and best practices Experience administering firewall, VPN, MFA, and other cybersecurity infrastructure
- Ability to analyze logs, identify security events, and apply remediation actions
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education - Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
- Certification - Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, GIAC, vendor-specific credentials)
- Palo Alto Panorama
- AWS security groups
