Cybersecurity Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Engineer to join our growing security practice. In this role, you will work alongside senior consultants to deliver cybersecurity assessments, support client engagements, monitor threat environments, and help clients build robust security postures. Key Responsibilities

Security Assessments & Audits
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on client networks, applications, and systems
  • Assist in security gap analyses and risk assessments aligned with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS Controls
  • Document findings, prepare assessment reports, and present recommendations to clients
  • 
    Monitoring & Incident Response
  • Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools and investigate potential threats or anomalies
  • Support incident response activities including triage, containment, eradication, and recovery
  • Maintain incident logs and contribute to post-incident analysis and reporting

  • Client Support & Advisory
  • Assist clients in implementing security controls, policies, and best practices
  • Deliver security awareness training sessions to client staff
  • Respond to client queries regarding cybersecurity risks, tools, and compliance requirements

  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Help clients develop and review security policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans
  • Support compliance audits for standards such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and Kenya's Data Protection Act
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, timelines, and deliverable trackers

    Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or a closely related role
  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Familiarity with operating systems including Windows Server, Linux, and macOS
  • Understanding of common attack vectors, malware types, and security controls
  • Experience with security tools such as Nessus, Wireshark, Metasploit, or equivalent
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications: CompTIA Security+, CEH, OSCP, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, IBM QRadar)
  • Exposure to cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Prior experience in an IT consulting or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with regional compliance requirements
