About

In 1974, a small group of 17 Western Australian service station owners gathered with a shared vision: to increase their collective buying power and level the playing field against big multinational oil companies. They formed Capricorn Society Cooperative, a member-owned organization built on cooperative principles designed to support small businesses in the automotive repair industry. What started as a meeting of Golden Fleece service station proprietors in South Perth has grown into Australasia's largest repair industry cooperative.

Today, Capricorn serves over 30,000 Members across Australia and New Zealand, supported by a network of more than 2,000 Preferred Suppliers. The cooperative provides comprehensive business solutions including a Trade Account with instant credit and consolidated invoicing, Capricorn Rewards, equipment finance, insurance through Capricorn Mutual, travel services, and business protection products. Members also benefit from trade rebates, dividends when declared, and regular networking events. Operating as a genuine cooperative means Members are also owners, eligible to share in the organization's success. Fifty years after its founding, Capricorn continues to evolve while remaining true to its core mission of helping Members build stronger businesses through the power of working together.

Acorns

Acorns operates a financial wellness platform serving millions of customers across automated savings, micro-investing, and consumer banking - all surface area that makes it a significant target. The company's core product rounds up spare change from transactions and routes it into investment accounts, which means the security perimeter extends from mobile app infrastructure through payment processing pipelines to brokerage integrations. The threat model is straightforward: compromised accounts mean direct access to funds, and any weakness in transaction handling or authentication becomes an immediate financial risk. The security team works across AWS and GCP infrastructure, using Terraform for configuration management and operating SIEM and SOAR tooling for detection and response. Python appears to be a primary language for security automation and tooling. The stack suggests a cloud-native posture with infrastructure-as-code discipline, which is standard for fintech at scale but still requires constant vigilance around misconfigurations, privilege escalation paths, and API security across multiple cloud environments. Acorns positions itself as mission-driven around financial accessibility, but from a security perspective that means defending a high-volume consumer platform where account takeover, fraud, and social engineering are persistent threats. The company's expansion from spare-change investing into full banking services and retirement accounts has expanded both the regulatory compliance surface and the incentive structure for attackers. The security function here isn't just protecting infrastructure - it's safeguarding the financial stakes of millions of retail customers who've entrusted automated access to their bank accounts and investment portfolios.

Celonis

Celonis exists to solve one of the biggest invisible problems in the global economy: inefficient business processes. Every day, companies lose millions of dollars, countless hours, and significant carbon emissions to broken, disconnected processes. The Celonis Process Intelligence Platform uses AI and process mining technology to give organizations a living digital twin of their operations - revealing exactly how work flows, where value leaks occur, and how to fix them. This isn't just about operational efficiency; it's about enabling Enterprise AI to actually work by giving it the business context it needs to deliver real outcomes. Founded in 2011 by three university students in Munich who believed there had to be a better way to understand and improve business processes, Celonis has grown into the global leader in Process Intelligence. Today, more than 1,400 companies across every industry trust Celonis to make their processes work for people, companies, and the planet. From helping the NHS prevent thousands of appointment cancellations to enabling PepsiCo to unlock millions in savings, Celonis has delivered over $6.5 billion in realized customer value.
