JOB DESCRIPTION
Select’s Security Engineer will be vital in designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions to safeguard our organization's systems and data. A deep understanding of security principles, excellent scripting skills, and the ability to proactively identify and address security risks are essential for this position. As a Security Engineer specializing in user provisioning and onboarding, you will be responsible for establishing and managing the security infrastructure and systems related to user access and authentication. Your primary objective will be to ensure that users have appropriate access privileges, comply with security policies, and follow best practices throughout their time with our organization.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Design, develop, and implement user provisioning and access management processes, including user account creation, modification, and termination.
- Establish workflows and procedures for user access requests, approvals, and periodic access reviews.
- Define and enforce role-based access controls (RBAC) and least privilege principles to ensure proper user permissions.
- Onboarding and Offboarding Processes: Collaborate with HR and IT teams to establish streamlined and secure user onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions for user authentication, single sign-on (SSO), federation using SAML, PAM, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Security Solution Design and Implementation: Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint security, SIEM, and vulnerability management tools. Ensure security measures align with industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements, including the review, design and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts to automate security processes, data analysis, and incident response activities. Leverage scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to enhance security operations efficiency and create custom tools for monitoring, logging, and threat hunting.
- Security Monitoring and Incident Response: Monitor security events and alerts, investigate security incidents, and perform forensic analysis. Develop and maintain security monitoring tools and systems, including log management platforms and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security vulnerabilities in systems and applications. Collaborate with system administrators and developers to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure timely patch management.
- Security Auditing and Compliance: Perform security audits, assess compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and recommend remediation actions. Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Security Incident Handling: Respond to security incidents, conduct incident investigations, and implement measures to prevent future incidents. Coordinate with relevant teams for incident response, containment, and remediation.
- Stay Updated with Emerging Threats and Technologies: Continuously monitor and research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies. Stay informed about the latest industry trends and provide recommendations for security improvements.

Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Security Engineer or in a similar role.
- Proven work experience as a Security Engineer or in a similar role with a focus on user provisioning and onboarding.
- Strong understanding of user access management principles, RBAC, and least privilege concepts.
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM) solutions, such as Active Directory, Entra ID, or Okta.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML models to identify anomalies, predict threats, and automate incident response.
- Familiarity with authentication protocols and technologies, including SSO and MFA, security systems, malware detection, ethical hacking fundamentals.
- Excellent understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot access-related issues and security incidents. Ability to assess risks, analyze vulnerabilities, and implement effective security solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and end-users.
- Hands-on experience with security tools, such as firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and antivirus systems.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, C++, Java, PowerShell) for automating security tasks and analyzing data.
- Proficiency with cloud security concepts, governance and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure Cloud Platform).
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevSecOps and ability to integrate security practices into development workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex security issues.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM, CISA, Security+) are a plus.

Compensation Information Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Physical Demands and Exposures
- This position works inside a climate-controlled environment a majority of the time. The Company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job. Some travel will be required.
- Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.
- Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
