PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To implement and maintain security measures; monitor for potential vulnerabilities or breaches and respond ton incidents in a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential.
- Cyber Security diploma or NQF 6 equivalent is essential.
- CompTIA N+, CompTIA S+/equivalent Network and Security Certification is desirable.
- Minimum 3 years in OT cybersecurity or IT infrastructure roles is essential.
- CCNA or related certification with relevant advanced networking experience is essential.
COMPETENCIES:
- Advanced computer, networking, and troubleshooting skills.
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential
- Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating needs assessments, budgets, and forecasting
- Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Critical thinking and acts quickly to minimise the impact of a breach and prevent further damage to the organisation
- Identify and analyse potential threats and vulnerabilities
- Sound knowledge of Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) architecture
- Knowledge of network and communication protocols common in ICS environments
- Sound understanding of CS OT design considerations with emphasis on human safety and the availability/security of the operating environment
- Understanding and knowledge of leading OT security practices; and preparing and maintaining policies, procedures and standards governing the security operations for ICS systems and networks
- Knowledge of OT network protocols (e.g., RS-232, Modbus, OPC, DNP3)
- Understanding of threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits in OT environment and appropriate mitigation techniques
- Sound understanding of ICS/OT design principles, with emphasis on human safety, system availability and secure operational environments+
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Implements OT security controls.
- Monitors networks.
- Performs vulnerability assessments.
- Manages access permissions.
- Ensures compliance with security standards.
- Supports the design, commissioning, and maintenance of OT and process control systems.
- Administers SCADA/PLC networks and related platforms.
- Ensures system integrity and uptime.
- Manages domain security, firewalls, antivirus updates, network architecture, audits, and OT patch/vulnerability management.
- Assists with OT project planning, execution, renewals, and change management processes.
- Maintains asset inventories.
- Produces operational and cybersecurity reports.
- Ensures accurate logs and governance documentation.
- Recommends new technologies.
- Enhances OT/ICS performance
- Develops standard procedures and best‑practice guidelines.
