Job Description:
This is an opportunity for an IT professional to join our Global IT team at Instron, based in High Wycombe.
The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for managing and enhancing the organisation’s Cyber Security Framework to ensure a robust security posture.
This role involves advanced monitoring, analysis, and remediation of security risks across networks, infrastructure, and applications. Additionally, the analyst will provide strategic support for infrastructure security initiatives and act as a key backup for the Senior Infrastructure and Security Specialist, ensuring continuity in critical security and network operations.
Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity Operations & Monitoring
Proactively monitor and analyse security events using SIEM tools and threat intelligence feeds.
Support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing; assisting with the prioritisation and remediation of any findings.
Manage endpoint protection and ensure compliance with evolving security standards.
Incident Response & Forensics
Support investigations into security incidents (phishing, malware, ransomware) and coordinate response efforts.
Perform root cause analysis and develop preventive measures.
Infrastructure & Network Security
Support and maintain network security devices (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
Assist in designing and implementing secure network architectures.
Provide backup coverage for Senior Infrastructure and Security Specialist, including advanced troubleshooting of servers, virtualization platforms, and network infrastructure.
Policy & Compliance
Develop and enforce security policies aligned with ISO 27001 and GDPR requirements.
Assist in responding to internal and external IT security audits and ensure compliance documentation is up to date.
Security Awareness & Training
Oversee phishing simulation programs and user awareness campaigns.
Report on training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Incident Response and Disaster recovery planning
Support the regular review and update the Incident response plan
Assist in planning regular Incident Response Planning desktop exercises.
Qualifications
Industry recognized certifications in cyber security, such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GSEC.
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, cyber security, or a related field.
Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge of cyber security concepts, principles, and technologies.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR).
Experience managing Endpoint Protection
Experience managing Email Protection
Experience maintaining Microsoft Active Directory
Office 365 Experience (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Outlook)
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Environments, including virtualization
Knowledge of IP network infrastructures, troubleshooting and monitoring
Knowledge of network and Internet security environments
