Wabash Valley Power Alliance

About

At Wabash Valley Power Alliance, we believe the cooperative model creates real strength through collaboration. Founded in 1963 by five Indiana electric distribution cooperatives, we've grown into the 17th largest generation and transmission electric cooperative in America, serving 23 member distribution co-ops across Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. Our not-for-profit structure means we don't answer to shareholders - we answer to our members, who are also our owners. This deliberately different approach lets us focus on what matters: providing reliable, cost-effective power to more than 350,000 homes, schools, farms, and businesses while maintaining $1.3 billion in assets and earning an "A" credit rating.

We're building a future that balances reliability with environmental responsibility. Our team operates 24/7 from our state-of-the-art Indianapolis headquarters, monitoring the energy grid and managing a diverse power supply portfolio that includes natural gas, coal, and renewables. We've developed a decarbonization strategy targeting 50% carbon reduction by 2031 and net zero by 2050. Through our POWER MOVES program, we've awarded over $32 million in incentives to help co-op members save energy and money. Our people thrive on solving complex challenges together - whether that's integrating edge-of-grid technologies, supporting economic development in our communities, or ensuring the lights always come on when our members flip the switch.

NSW Electricity Networks Operations Pty.

NSW Electricity Networks Operations Pty., operating as Transgrid, manages the high-voltage electricity transmission network across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The company controls over 11,517 km of transmission lines and 136 substations, forming the backbone of the National Electricity Market. With a team of over 1,000 people headquartered in Sydney, Transgrid operates critical infrastructure that connects millions of Australians to the grid - infrastructure that traces its origins to networks built in the 1950s. The threat model here is significant: any disruption to high-voltage transmission infrastructure cascades across the entire National Electricity Market. Transgrid's operational technology environment spans substations, SCADA systems, and grid interconnection projects that must maintain reliability while integrating renewable generation at scale. The company runs on Office 365, Salesforce CRM, and SharePoint for enterprise systems, but the security perimeter extends deep into industrial control systems managing transmission assets across two states and territories. Current major projects include EnergyConnect and Humelink - large-scale transmission builds designed to connect renewable generation and expand grid capacity. These projects introduce new attack surface as the network expands and modernizes. Security teams operating in this environment need to understand both traditional IT infrastructure and the operational technology domains specific to power transmission: substation automation, grid interconnection protocols, and the physical-digital convergence that defines modern electricity networks. The company positions itself as leading Australia's clean energy transition, which means securing an increasingly complex grid architecture. More distributed generation, more interconnection points, more digital control systems - each expansion multiplies the coordination required to keep energy flowing while managing cyber risk across legacy and modern infrastructure simultaneously.

Talen Energy Supply LLC

Talen Energy was born in 2015 from a simple but powerful insight: the energy landscape was fundamentally changing, and the industry needed a new kind of power producer - one that could bridge the gap between traditional reliability and emerging clean energy demands. Emerging from PPL Corporation’s century-old utility operations, Talen’s founders recognized that the future belonged to independent power producers who could combine operational excellence with strategic flexibility. They assembled a diverse portfolio of generation assets across the United States, anchored by the Susquehanna nuclear facility and spanning nuclear, natural gas, coal, and oil technologies - giving Talen the unique ability to deliver power safely, reliably, and efficiently while navigating the complex energy transition. Today, Talen Energy operates approximately 13.1 GW of generation capacity across 12 locations, employing nearly 1,900 people who embody the company’s core values of Excellence, No Harm, Integrity, and Continuous Improvement. The company has evolved beyond traditional power generation to become a leader in powering the digital infrastructure revolution, establishing first-of-its-kind partnerships to serve data centers with 24x7 carbon-free nuclear power. With ambitious commitments to eliminate coal use by 2028 and reduce CO2 emissions 75% by 2030, Talen is proving that reliability and sustainability can power the future together. Their partnership with Eos Energy to explore battery storage solutions further demonstrates how they’re innovating to meet the growing demands of AI-driven data centers while delivering maximum value per megawatt produced for their stakeholders.
