SSC Space, founded 1966, provides satellite ground station services, mission operations, spacecraft engineering, and launch and payload services from Sweden.
SSC Space, formerly Swedish Space Corporation, has been in the space services business since 1966. The company runs space-to-Earth connectivity, mission operations, system engineering, and launch services, operating as a state-owned enterprise headquartered in Sweden with a global footprint. Its website is https://sscspace.com/.
The load-bearing piece is the ground segment. SSC Space operates 11 owned ground stations plus 10 partner stations worldwide, sold under service tiers including LEOP, Go, Plus, Lunar, Optical, Hosting, and Teleport offerings. Those stations carry satellite communications traffic and support mission operations for customer spacecraft - the kind of infrastructure where availability, access control, and link integrity are the whole product. The company also provides spacecraft operations and engineering solutions, optical satellite communications, and teleport services.
On the other side of the house, SSC Space does launch and payload work: sounding rocket and stratospheric balloon launches supporting scientific research and technology development, satellite launch and rocket test services, and payload development. That lineage traces to the Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden, which remains the company's launch and research facility. The science-and-launch legacy spans more than five decades.
Ownership matters to anyone assessing the environment. As a state-owned enterprise, SSC Space balances commercial operations with a public mission oriented toward research and technology development - an organization that describes its purpose as helping Earth benefit from space. The technical surface spans ground station networks, mission operations software, spacecraft engineering, optical comms, and launch infrastructure, spread across facilities in northern Sweden and a worldwide station network.
