South Texas College is a public community college founded in 1993, operating across five campuses, two higher education centers, and a virtual campus in Hidalgo and Starr Counties. The institution serves approximately 26,000 credit students with a workforce of more than 2,200 faculty and staff. Forty percent of its credit students are first-generation college students, and half of traditional students receive Pell grants.

The college offers more than 130 degree and certificate options, including associate degrees spanning liberal arts, business, technology, advanced manufacturing, and allied health. It is the only community college in Texas to offer five baccalaureate degrees. Dual credit programs, delivered through 70 partner high schools, have served 150,000 high school students since 2000.

Recognized as the number one Hispanic-Serving Institution in the nation, South Texas College focuses on community engagement and learner support across its service area in the Rio Grande Valley.
