Sorgenia

Milano, Milan, IT (On-site)1 open job

Italian vertically integrated green-tech energy company producing and supplying renewable electricity, gas, fiber connectivity, and energy-efficiency services to over one million customers in Italy and Spain.

Sorgenia runs the kind of asset mix that keeps critical-infrastructure security people honest. Founded in 1999 and described as Italy's first green-tech energy company, it is vertically integrated across roughly 1,700 MW of installed renewables (solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric), about 4,400 MW of efficient gas-fired power plants, and a 5,000 MW renewables development pipeline. On top of that generation base sits a retail operation serving over one million residential and business customers in Italy and Spain with electricity, natural gas, and fiber connectivity. The attack surface is not theoretical: generation assets, retail billing, a fiber network, and an increasingly digital customer-facing stack all sit under the same corporate perimeter.

The technical footprint widens further into distributed, customer-side technology. Sorgenia installs and services photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging stations, and sells energy-efficiency solutions alongside its supply products. That means OT and IT don't stay neatly separated - plant control systems, field-deployed devices, charging infrastructure, metering and billing platforms, and connectivity services are all in scope. The company describes a fully digital approach to customer service and operations, which is another way of saying the software layer is load-bearing.

Culturally, Sorgenia points to transparent corporate governance, stakeholder dialogue, and a pioneering approach to challenging projects rather than a pure engineering monoculture. More than two decades in, it positions itself around the energy transition and sustainable value creation across Italy and Spain. Security work here lands where the stakes are legible: keeping generation and supply running, protecting a million-customer retail operation, and securing an expanding surface of field devices and digital services as the renewables pipeline grows.
