Rightmove plc

About

In 2000, the UK property market was fragmented and inefficient. The top four corporate estate agencies - Countrywide, Connells, Halifax and Royal and Sun Alliance - recognized this gap and came together to form Rightmove.co.uk. They saw an opportunity to create a unified platform that would transform how people find homes in the UK. Initially offering free listings, they introduced a charging model in 2002, creating a sustainable business model that would support the platform's growth and development.

Over two decades, Rightmove evolved from that startup idea into the UK's number one property portal, eventually floating on the London Stock Exchange in 2006 and becoming a FTSE 100 company with a market value around £5 billion. Today, over a million properties are available on the platform at any time, and home movers spend more than a billion minutes each month searching for their next move. The company's vision - to give everyone the belief they can make their move - drives everything they do, from their consumer-facing tools to their data services for property professionals across residential and commercial markets.

RightSec

In 2019, after years of service in the Australian military, our founder Virginia Calegare noticed a critical gap. Organisations faced a rising tide of cyber threats but lacked a partner who could combine strategic thinking with hands on technical capability. Traditional audits and tick‑box compliance often left teams firefighting incidents instead of preventing them. That moment became the spark that started RightSec, a risk‑based, intelligence‑led cyber security consultancy designed to translate threat intelligence into real protection for clients. From the outset we focused on governance, risk and compliance and expanded into trusted advisory services and rapid incident response for organisations of all sizes. Today RightSec is a Brisbane‑based partner with a team of experts who hold industry certifications and blend strategic guidance with practical security execution. We offer 24/7 managed security services, cyber strategy consulting, penetration testing, digital forensics and incident response, and team augmentation. We have forged partnerships with leading vendors, including Palo Alto Networks, enabling rapid deployment of advanced tooling during incidents. Our mission is to be a trusted partner for security, reliability and measurable improvements in security maturity across APAC and beyond. From its origins, RightSec has grown into a company serving businesses and government bodies across industries, with integrity, reliability and customer centricity at its core. The founders remain focused on continuous learning and delivering tangible outcomes, not just reports, as we help organisations secure digital transformation and manage cyber risk while giving back to the community.

Spectris plc

Spectris plc operates precision measurement infrastructure across semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical lines, and manufacturing facilities in 36 countries. Their instrumentation portfolio spans particle contamination monitors, material analyzers, and industrial test equipment - hardware that ships with embedded C/C++ firmware, Python analytics layers, and integration hooks into SCADA, OPCUA, and legacy Modbus protocols. The technical surface is broader than most realize: their brands include Malvern Panalytical for material characterization, Particle Measuring Systems for cleanroom monitoring, Servomex for gas analysis, and HBK for structural testing. These aren't edge devices phoning home metrics - they're measurement systems sitting inside critical production environments where a bad sensor reading can halt a $500M fab line or compromise pharma batch validation. The threat model here is industrial: supply chain compromise in firmware updates, credential leakage across PLC/DCS integrations, and data integrity at the point of measurement. Spectris equipment connects to operational technology stacks that weren't designed for modern adversaries, which means security teams need to understand both traditional IT controls and the constraints of deterministic RTOS environments. Their century-long presence means legacy codebases in Delphi alongside newer Python tooling - technical debt that's operational reality, not something to wave away. Partnerships with major manufacturers mean any vulnerability scales fast, and semiconductor/pharma verticals bring regulatory scrutiny that makes incident response particularly expensive. The company's positioning around "specialist insight" suggests analytics pipelines pulling data from these edge systems, which adds another attack surface to map and monitor. For security practitioners, this is the industrial internet at scale: embedded systems you can't easily patch, protocols designed for reliability over confidentiality, and customers who can't tolerate downtime for security updates. The work involves threat modeling against nation-state actors interested in IP theft from semiconductor processes, securing firmware development pipelines, and building security architectures that respect the physics of real-time control systems. No heroics - just the hard problem of securing critical measurement infrastructure that's already deployed and running in production environments where "turn it off and patch it" isn't an option.
