The opportunity

As a Cyber Security Risk & Compliance Consultant, you will support a significant transformation in how cyber and information security risk is identified and mitigated across QBE’s core business, third‑party suppliers, programs and projects. As part of the AUSPAC’s Cyber Security function, you will play a critical role in keeping QBE safe, secure and resilient—continuously staying ahead of an evolving and increasingly sophisticated threat landscape.

This is an intellectually challenging and highly influential consulting and delivery role, requiring technical expertise, sustained curiosity and the ability to translate complex risk insights into practical, root‑cause solutions that enable strategic business outcomes. You will shape security decision‑making, influence key stakeholders and strengthen QBE’s security posture through collaborative, risk‑based engagement across the organisation.

Your new role

  • Deliver and continuously strengthen QBE’s cyber and information security capability, partnering across the business to drive effective engagement and risk mitigation.
  • Build cyber security capability and awareness across QBE through coaching, knowledge‑sharing and fostering informed curiosity.
  • Establish strong, collaborative relationships to provide trusted advice, identify root‑cause issues and reduce cyber threats and risks.
  • Proactively identify security weaknesses and take end‑to‑end accountability for driving mitigation through to secure outcomes.
  • Ensure cyber risks and issues are identified, self‑reported and escalated transparently to key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the evolution of QBE’s Cyber practice by shaping innovative threat mitigation solutions and supporting the adoption of policies, standards and practices.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have reasonable prior Cyber Security and governance experience within a large complex organisation.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrable experience with security and risk-based standards such as ISO2700X, ISO31000, NIST800 and PCI DSS and other relevant security risk standards and technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict management skills, with an ability to anticipate and pre-empt potential obstacles
  • Strong ability to consider where and how people or technology could be exploited; getting into the mindset of an adversary
  • Problem solving mindset with tenacity to see solutions through to delivery
