VEHICLE CYBERSECURITY ENGINEER STUDENT

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated engineering student interested in vehicle cybersecurity. As a Vehicle Cybersecurity Engineer Student, within the Engineering Business Systems team, you will support the completion of engineering projects related to the ongoing implementation and establishment of vehicle cybersecurity best practices within the New Flyer and MCI business units. You will also help develop and implement cybersecurity measures in line with ISO/SAE 21434 standards, as well as other features identified to meet both internal and external customer requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Complete design assignments in support of engineering cybersecurity development projects.
- Review and verify engineering documents, Instructions to Service, and other applicable documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering design teams to deliver cybersecurity work products and support their implementation.
- Coordinate tasks and deliverables to meet project schedules, deadlines, and lead times.
- Maintain communication with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
- Participate in engineering meetings and additional meetings to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide weekly status reports, including completed and outstanding actions.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary engineering program.
- Eligible to work in Canada and available to meet the required work schedule and work arrangement for the duration of the term.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, vehicle cybersecurity or general cybersecurity best practices.
- Foundational knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, including serial communication networks.
- Experience with wireless connectivity technologies (e.g., cellular, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
ADDITIONAL ASSETS:
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles such as threat analysis, risk assessment, or secure system design.
- Awareness of automotive cybersecurity regulations and standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434, SAE 3061, UNECE R155/R156).
- Exposure to authentication and encryption techniques.
