Veteran-owned small business providing cybersecurity, DevSecOps, software, and systems engineering support to U.S. Department of Defense combat, weapon, naval, and missile defense programs.
In-Depth Engineering works the security side of systems where the failure modes are physical. The veteran-owned small business, incorporated in Maryland in 2006 and now 177 people strong, supports the U.S. Department of Defense on combat and weapon systems development - AEGIS Combat System and the AEGIS Display Subsystem, Ground Based Mid-course Defense, AN/SQQ-89 undersea warfare, AN/BQQ-10 submarine sonar and control, and AN/BLQ-10 submarine electronic warfare. Cybersecurity and DevSecOps sit inside that work, not alongside it: securing hardware-to-software interfaces, naval control systems, and network infrastructure on programs where adversary access isn't an abstraction.
The technical surface is broad and specific - C++, Java, Linux, Agile development, systems engineering and integration, testing, and electronic warfare. Practitioners move between software development, ship integration and waterfront support, and IT services, with field and off-site teams delivering operational support including OCONUS deployments. Installation and sustainment work is part of the job, so the threat model extends past the build pipeline to deployed systems on ships and in the field.
The company operates as a CMMI Level 3 appraised development organization, with the appraisal valid through July 2029, and runs Agile and DevSecOps practices across its programs. Presence spans five states - Virginia, Maryland, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and California - plus work outside the continental United States. For security engineers, that means roles touching missile defense, naval, and electronic warfare programs from requirements through integration, test, and on-site support.
