Gymshark
Gymshark is a global fitness apparel brand founded in 2012 in Birmingham, selling performance training gear through e-commerce and retail locations in London and New York.
Gymshark sells performance training apparel - leggings, sports bras, gym gear - to a global customer base, and almost all of that commerce runs through channels a security team has to care about: a high-volume e-commerce platform, retail operations in London and New York, and a social-media-driven community that is the brand's primary growth engine. Founded in 2012 by a group of school friends with a sewing machine in a Birmingham garage, the company now employs over 1,000 people from its Solihull headquarters, with presence across the United Kingdom and the United States.
The threat model follows the business. Customer accounts and payment flows on gymshark.com are the obvious target surface - account takeover, checkout fraud, credential stuffing against a consumer user base that reuses passwords. Retail locations add point-of-sale systems and store networks to the estate. The community and social channels are a phishing and impersonation problem in their own way: a brand built on direct relationships with athletes is a brand whose audience can be socially engineered. Behind it sits the usual apparel-and-retail backend - suppliers, logistics, internal tooling, and an employee population that has scaled from a garage to four figures.
The technical work spans apparel design and product development, performance textile and garment engineering, e-commerce, retail operations, and community and social marketing - a hybrid of consumer retail stack and physical product development. Gymshark describes itself as doing things differently rather than following traditional retail playbooks, with decision-making oriented around its community and a stated belief in conditioning, physical and mental. Roles touch work across the UK (Birmingham, Solihull, London), the US (New York), and global operations.
Product lines are functional training apparel: leggings designed to stay put through workouts, sports bras built for heavy training and personal records, and gear and accessories for gym, track, and everyday use.
