French industrial deep-tech company building space mobility infrastructure: electric propulsion, orbital transfer and servicing vehicles, and mission-design and flight-operations software.
Exotrail builds the unglamorous layer that makes orbital missions actually happen: electric propulsion, orbital transfer and in-orbit servicing, and the software that designs and runs the flights. The French industrial deep-tech firm sells to commercial satellite operators, institutional customers, and defense and federal buyers in the U.S. - a customer mix that puts its ground segment, mission-design tooling, and satellite control center squarely in scope as operational infrastructure rather than back-office IT. The company runs missions end-to-end, from design through in-orbit operations, which means the software surfaces are live control paths, not demos.
The product stack is concrete. spaceware™ is the electric propulsion systems line for satellites; spacevan™ is an orbital transfer and servicing vehicle; ExoOPS™ and SpaceTower™ cover mission design, optimization, and flight operations. Deorbiting and debris mitigation are named priorities - part of the pitch to make orbital missions faster, more flexible, and more sustainable against growing orbital congestion.
Scale is real but not bloated: more than 200 employees ("Exotrailers") across sites in Massy and Toulouse, France, plus commercial and federal subsidiaries in the United States, with over €75 million raised. Per SpaceNews reporting in 2023, the customer base splits roughly a third North America, a third Europe, and the remainder in Asia. Work spans propulsion engineering, vehicle operations, flight software, and control-center operations.
