DPR Construction

About

In July 1990, three construction veterans - Doug Woods, Peter Nosler, and Ron Davidowski (the D, the P, and the R) - made one of the best decisions of their lives and started their own company. Armed with $750,000 of pooled resources and steadfast determination, they set out to build something different in an industry traditionally resistant to change. They weren't looking to be a commodity contractor; they wanted to be a negotiating, self-performing general contractor that would take care of customers in ways others wouldn't.

The defining moment came in 1992 when Jim Collins, then a Stanford professor, helped them articulate what would become the company's enduring purpose: 'We Exist to Build Great Things.'® Along with four core values - Integrity, Enjoyment, Uniqueness, and Ever Forward - this purpose guided DPR from 11 professionals in its first year to a multi-billion-dollar, employee-owned organization that consistently ranks among the top 50 general contractors nationwide. Today, DPR's team of builders focuses on highly complex and technical projects across advanced technology, healthcare, higher education, life sciences, and commercial markets, driven by the same belief that started it all: construction isn't a manufacturing business - it's a service business built on great teams, great projects, and great relationships.

DP World

DP World operates 60+ ports and terminals across 80+ countries, handling 10% of global trade daily through a network of logistics hubs, economic zones, and freight forwarding operations. The threat surface is massive: critical infrastructure spanning six continents, real-time visibility tools tracking containers and cargo across international borders, and operational technology environments where a single compromised terminal could cascade through integrated supply chain systems. The attack vectors range from nation-state actors targeting strategic port infrastructure to ransomware groups eyeing logistics operations that can't afford downtime. The company runs TMS, WMS, ERP, and CRM systems across a workforce of over 100,000 people in 150+ nationalities, creating identity and access management complexity at scale. Their push into AI, automation, and advanced analytics for supply chain visibility means securing both legacy OT environments at ports like Jebel Ali - operating since 1972 - and modern cloud-based logistics platforms. The security team operates across maritime IT/OT convergence, protecting container management systems, crane automation, and real-time tracking tools while maintaining compliance across jurisdictions with vastly different regulatory frameworks. Domains include securing port terminal operations, protecting freight forwarding networks, and hardening contract logistics infrastructure. The stakes are geopolitical as much as operational: disruption doesn't just cost money, it can strand essential goods and weaponize supply chains. DP World's net-zero commitments add another layer, integrating renewable energy systems and sustainability tech into an already complex attack surface that blends physical security, industrial control systems, and enterprise IT.

DY

Dyson

Dyson is a global technology company with 14,000 employees headquartered in Malmesbury, operating teams worldwide. Founded by engineer James Dyson, the company designs and manufactures household appliances - vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, hair care products - through what it describes as persistent iteration and engineering excellence. The company's technical work spans fluid dynamics, robotics, acoustics, microbiology, materials science, and product design, with engineers and scientists prototyping relentlessly until products meet performance standards they claim genuinely outperform competitors. The engineering culture centers on cross-disciplinary collaboration and refusal to cut corners. Staff work across domains from fluid dynamics and robotics to acoustics and microbiology, united by what the company describes as frustration with products that don't work properly. Development practice emphasizes continuous refinement - prototyping repeatedly, pushing boundaries, and iterating until achieving technical objectives. The company develops what it calls pioneering materials designed to do more with less, while maintaining a stated focus on building products that last. Dyson's organizational structure supports diverse technical minds working in an environment where curiosity meets rigorous engineering discipline. The company cultivates specialists who challenge conventions and refuse to settle for what it internally refers to as "good enough." Through the James Dyson Foundation, the company also runs mentoring programs for the next generation of engineers. The threat model here is straightforward: in a competitive consumer technology market, Dyson's differentiation depends on technical teams executing on complex engineering problems without compromise, maintaining product performance claims that justify premium positioning.
