What You’ll Be Doing
You will be joining the enterprise technology team in CIBC. As the Cyber Security Applications Developer/Analyst, you are responsible for the detailed technical design and development of applications using various technology platforms. The role performs tasks of technical depth and breadth, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to conduct impact analysis and provide feedback on problems with recommended solutions. The role determines methods and approaches to projects, transforming business requirements specifications into programming instructions, designing, coding and testing programs. In addition, the role plays a key role in the development and implementation of database management solutions, supporting the company’s backup plans. The role uses judgement and autonomy on day to day tasks, exercising considerable latitude to conduct data source analysis and negotiate with users regarding requirements.

How You’ll Succeed
- Design & Develop: Act as a technical lead and SME (subject matter expert) on the analysis and documentation of business requirements, estimations for assigned work packages and coordination for end-to-end implementation of tools and technology solutions. Lead the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet business objectives while also maintaining existing applications. Work with other internal teams like Business Analysts, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, network engineering, security engineering, and such to understand the requirements and work on implementing solutions. After the implementation, this role would act as Level 3 support, working on issue resolution through collaboration with AO (application operations) team and tool vendor support.
- Programming Ability: Perform and coordinate application integration activities: design and develop scripts and code including shell or Python scripting, Ansible, API calls, etc., test, debug, document, and adjust in order to ensure successful integration and implementation of vendor tools into CIBC environment.
- Lead & Influence: Own the technical solutions, lead solution review sessions and ensure overall quality aligns with business and project requirements. Mentor and coach less senior team members, monitor production and user acceptance testing support to troubleshoot complex problems on applications and technologies.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate 1-2 years hands-on experience and knowledge in information security solutions and technologies as well as a pulse on innovative technology; Technical experience with: Linux/Unix commands, shell, Python scripting, API integrations and modern authentication mechanisms. You have strong knowledge of: Cyber Security space, application delivery life cycle (agile, waterfall, Scrum, code/application promotion), JIRA, code version control systems. You are an expert troubleshooter and problem solver and have experience in production systems support and incident resolution. It’s nice to have knowledge of TCP/IP and network security
- You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
