Cato Networks builds a cloud-native SASE platform that converges networking and security - SD-WAN, firewall/VPN, web security, threat prevention, and data protection - in a single global cloud network.
Cato Networks sells a single product: the Cato SASE Cloud Platform, a cloud-native architecture that collapses networking and security into one stack. The pitch is not that enterprises lack security tools - it's that fragmented point solutions, appliances, and per-site VPN and firewall deployments create gaps attackers work between. Cato's answer is convergence: SD-WAN connectivity, firewall and VPN functions, web security, threat prevention and detection, and data protection delivered from one globally distributed cloud network, so traffic from users, sites, and applications is inspected and routed in one place rather than stitched across vendors.
The company was founded in 2015 by Shlomo Kramer and Gur Shatz, whose prior work includes Check Point Software Technologies and Imperva. That lineage matters less as pedigree than as context: the founding premise was that traditional network security architecture had already failed, and the SASE model Cato built was influential enough that Gartner later coined the term to describe the category. The market Gartner and others now track is projected to reach $28.5 billion by 2028.
For security engineers, the technical surface spans the domains that usually sit in separate products: network security, cloud-native networking, threat prevention and detection, data protection, SD-WAN, and firewall/VPN and web security. The work happens inside a globally distributed cloud network rather than against a single corporate perimeter, so the threat model includes traffic in transit between distributed users, sites, and cloud applications - and the operational model assumes convergence: one platform, one policy plane, no appliance fleet.
